Simplify Your Sample Processing, Improve Your Analytical Data Quality

On Demand

Published: Aug 04, 2017

Lipids, including phospholipids, are abundant in biological samples (serum and plasma, specifically). If not removed, they will co-elute with your analytes of interest and cause ion suppression in mass spectrometry analysis, which will in term affect analytical quality (accuracy and precision). In addition, lipid buildup in a column or another component in the analytical system can cause downtime and increase maintenance cost. The popular method of protein precipitation in preparing biological samples for LC-MS analysis does not remove lipids. By using Captiva EMR-Lipid product, lipids are removed as part of protein precipitation workflow, which streamlines the sample preparation and provides a protein and lipid free sample for downstream analysis.

In this presentation, attendees will learn, how and why lipids interfere with analyte detection and reproducibility from LC/MS and LC/MS/MS analysis when dealing with biological matrices.  A new and highly innovative sample preparation product offers a simple process that can selectively and efficiently remove lipids without affecting analyte recovery, which simplifies sample processing and improves analytical data quality.

Key learning objectives:

  • Understand the potential impact of lipid interference when analyzing serum and plasma by LC/MS and LC/MS/MS techniques
  • Learn about a new technology for high percentage lipid removal with high analyte recovery
  • See method examples and data for problematic analytes such as THC and THC metabolites, vitamins D2 and D3, and per/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs)
