Process Capability Index (Cpk) is a
simple yet powerful statistical tool that measures process variability relative
to its specification limits. It is a forward-looking statistic that
predicts the ability of an organization to meet internal and external customer
and process requirements. This presentation uses a graphics-rich and
numbers-light approach to introduce how Cpk works and what it means. Several
examples are discussed to demonstrate how Cpk can be used to ensure reliable
operations in any type of company or company process whether they be analytical
testing, manufacturing, or providing services. The examples include using Cpk
to assess sample testing turnaround time performance, right-first-time process
improvement, and Internal Calibration Verification formulation stability.
