Cannabis science is at an all-time high. Following the November 2016 elections, four states voted in favor of marijuana legalization. California, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Maine all voted in favor of legalized use, sale, and consumption of recreational marijuana. Another four states (Florida, Arkansas, North Dakota, and Montana) passed medical cannabis legislation. The growing need for safe cannabis products has resulted in a boom for cannabis quality control testing laboratories.
Speaking in 2017, Scott A. Kuzdzal, Ph.D., from Shimadzu takes a closer look at the industry and examined the analytical tests and instruments utilized. Additionally, some of the major challenges and opportunities, as well as new frontiers in cannabis research will be discussed.
