Research into cannabis plant chemistry has significantly increased over the past decade as several states continue to legalize the plant. Delta-9-THC and CBD (cannabidiol) are well known cannabinoids and known to have some therapeutic properties. As research has continued, new cannabinoids have been identified not only as present, but also to have potential bioactivity. Several cannabinoids, including Δ3-THC, Δ8-THC and Δ10-THC, have all been identified in cannabis products – both naturally or as through forced chemical reactions. Analysis of several novel cannabinoids will be discussed, as well as the prevalence in cannabis products.
