Evaluating the Volatile Constituents of Different Cannabis Varieties using Solventless Sample Preparation and Orbitrap Based MS Detection
The most conventional approaches for the analysis of the volatile cannabis constituents are based on static headspace and liquid extraction with direct injection. Solventless sample preparation offers a unique and comprehensive data package, in less time than solvent-based extraction without the disadvantage of solvent interferences. In addition to solventless sample preparation techniques, the benefit of using an orbitrap based GC-MS system will be discussed. High-resolution accurate mass detection not only supports higher confidence of component identification, but it's also unmatched specificity that can enhance the detectability of certain target analytes. The developed sample preparation methods are capable of quick and economical characterization of different cannabis strains.
