Smithers, an international testing company, has acquired Green Scientific Labs’ Arizona business. The acquisition extends Smithers’ cannabis testing services into Arizona; the company already tests cannabis in Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York.

“We are excited to enter Arizona as it represents our first laboratory in the Southwest,” Michael Hochschwender, CEO of Smithers, said in a statement on May 3.

“Arizona is one of the top cannabis markets in the US, and we are looking forward to supporting this dynamic industry by providing exceptional customer service so clients can focus on getting their products to market.”

The sale of its Arizona business follows the sale of Green Scientific Labs’ New Jersey and Illinois facilities in December 2022. At the time, Green Scientific’s chairman, Michael Richmond, said the sale of the two labs would help the company focus more on the Arizona and Florida markets.

“The completion of this sale is an important step toward simplifying our business model while we improve operational execution in our core markets of Florida and Arizona,” Richmond said in a statement on December 8, 2022.

With the Arizona facility sold to Smithers, Green Scientific now only operates in Florida.
