SC Labs, a cannabis testing company that operates in multiple US states, has just added another state to its purview.

In a notice on April 24, SC Labs announced it had acquired C4 Laboratories, a lab based in Scottsdale, Arizona. With this acquisition, SC now operates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, and Oregon.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the C4 team to the SC Labs family,” Jeff Journey, CEO of SC Labs, said in a statement.

“C4 has a demonstrated track record of scientific expertise and business acumen that fits perfectly within our values shared across locations.”

“With this acquisition, we can continue to expand best-in-market cannabis testing services and the opportunity to service multi-state growers and manufacturers. It is truly an exciting time for growth, and we know that the C4 team will be an invaluable addition to our team, culture and operations.”

C4 Laboratories was one of the first cannabis testing labs licensed in Arizona. All its employees will reportedly stay on and join the SC Labs team.

SC’s inter-state expansion comes on the heels of its recent collaboration with ACT Laboratories. Earlier this month, the two lab companies launched a new cannabis lab accreditation scheme.

“We’re going to enlist the help of third-party accreditors, both to oversee the final development of the trust mark, as well as help us then going forward to accredit new labs,” Josh Wurzer, president of SC Labs, recently told Analytical Cannabis.

“[By] getting all the labs up to the correct level, we’re not competing on the results of our tests, but we're competing on the quality of our service,” he added.
