ACT Laboratories, a multi-state cannabis testing company, has agreed to acquire Green Scientific Labs’ Florida business.

The acquisition extends ACT’s cannabis testing services into Florida; the company already tests cannabis in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York.

“With the addition of Green Scientific's operations in Florida, we not only strengthen our footprint, we are adding extensive experience as well as capabilities in hemp testing that will broaden our ability to service customers across markets,” Michael Drozd, CEO of ACT Laboratories, said in a statement on May 11.

The sale of its Florida business comes days after the sale of Green Scientific’s Arizona facility, which was acquired by Smithers. Green Scientific also sold its New Jersey and Illinois facilities in December 2022, leaving the company, then, with just its Florida and Arizona operations.

Now, the company has no state facilities of its own. It remains unclear how the company will operate going forward – Analytical Cannabis has reached out for comment – but, following the ACT deal, Green Scientific’s interim CEO, Rafael Bombonato, will become vice president of quality for ACT and Diana Asensio, currently Green Scientific’s lab director for Florida, will continue in the same role for ACT Laboratories.

“We’re excited to become part of such a strong team with a shared focus on best-in-class testing methods and setting ever-higher standards that can help our customers improve supply chain predictability,” Rafael Bombonato said in a statement.

“As part of ACT Laboratories, we will bring a suite of capabilities, industry-leading turnaround time and customer service that no other lab in Florida can match.”

The financial terms of the ACT-Green Scientific deal are expected to be completed by the end of June.
