After completing an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires, Mariana moved to Germany. In 2009, she completed her PhD in Biological Sciences at the Free University of Berlin. Later she worked at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, first as a postdoc and next as a senior scientist. Her research focused on animal behavior and neurobiology using different animal models. In 2020, she started to pursue a career in science communication. Mariana started with Technology Networks (Analytical Cannabis' sister publication) in 2021 as a science writer, where she is responsible for the conception and creation of custom-written projects.
